Adventist Community Services

OUR MISSION

Community ministries which is compassionate and benevolent services to the community, is not a matter of choice for members of Northeastern Conference who are followers of Christ. He has left us a profoundly challenging example which demands that we follow. Ellen White states: "Christ work in behalf of man is not finished. It continues today. In like manner His ambassadors are to preach the gospel and to reveal His pitying love for lost and perishing souls. By an unselfish interest in those who need help, they give a practical demonstration of the truth of the gospel. Much more than mere sermonizing is included in this work.

The evangelization of the world is the work God has given to those who go forth in His name. They are to be co-laborers with Christ, revealing to those ready to perish His tender, pitying love" (WM57).

This approach will bring each church in our Conference unsurpassed success in every dimension of Christian Service and Christian life. The spirituality of each church will be elevated, the membership will be increased, all other ministries will become more meaningful. Equally important, each church will merge into significant and relevant entities in the communities. This kind of success Ellen G. White perceived when she stated:

"Christ Method Brings True Success - Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, 'Follow Me' " (MH 143, WM 60.1).

Consequently, it is absolutely appropriate and justified that when Jesus returns, according to Matthew 25:31-46, our eternal destiny will be consistent with our involvement or non-involvement in community ministries, since this is what Jesus practiced, commands and enables. It is for this very reason that Community Ministries is the gospel in active and dynamic manifestation in the marketplace.
